The Best Things in Life are Free
July 21, 2009 - In a time when jobs are hard to come by, standing out from the crowd has never been more crucial. In fact, with companies reporting record responses on popular job hunt websites, it\'s a wonder that applicants get call backs at all. Classy resume paper, guerilla-follow up tactics and even scratch and sniff stickers get lost in the stacks. To say the least, competition for jobs has reached unprecedented levels. But leave it to an applicant in the advertising business to best market herself to prospective employers. Adsource recently acquired a new intern in Amber Tometich, an aspiring copywriter who will be assisting with projects throughout the summer.
Amber expressed her frustration with her job search in the marketing industry: In the job market right now employers want passion, drive and talent, but also a proven track record. It\'s hard to prove to a company that you really have what it takes; especially without 20 years of experience under your belt. Everyone knows there is no better way to get a sense for a product then by getting a free sample. So Amber made us an offer that we couldn?t refuse: free labor, copywriting and a creative eye for the entire summer. In exchange? Better exposure to the industry, a chance to broaden her portfolio, and expertise and mentoring from some of the best in the business.
Fair trade? AdSource would say yes!
